Dr. Alan Hoffman
A serial angel investor and a well-recognized internist in Houston, Texas, affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and Houston Methodist Hospital. Dr. Hoffman received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine where he is now serving as faculty. Dr. Hoffman has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years.
Adv. Eyal Harel
Eyal Harel is a lawyer, entrepreneur and investor with almost two decades of experience in technology development, transfer transactions and global, multicultural negotiations.
Mr. Harel is one of the owners and served as the CEO of the XinTech (Bio Sciences) group of companies, a boutique investment bank promoting Sino-Western technology transfer transactions and strategic collaborations in the life sciences.
He also held the position of Legal Counsel in Israel for China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (中国土木工程集团公司), one of the largest construction companies in the world and was involved in some of Israel’s biggest construction projects.
Mr. Harel holds an LLB. and an additional diploma in East Asia Studies from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and an MBA from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Dr. Moshe Harel
Dr. Harel is a serial entrepreneur with almost 2 decades of experience in R&D, management and business development. Dr. Harel has led the development of BlueGreen’s Lake Guard™ technology from concept to product, positioning it as the first commercially available unlimited solution to combat large-scale harmful algal blooms in an annual multi-billion-dollar market.
Dr. Harel has received his Ph.D. in Environmental Microbiology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and was a postdoc at the Dep. of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX.
Prof. Aaron Kaplan
Prof. Aaron Kaplan has received his Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he holds a position of Full Professor. He has been a post-doctoral research associate at Stanford University, USA, and a visiting professor at Nagoya and Tokyo universities in Japan and Konstanz University in Germany. He is serving as the director of the Arid Ecosystem Research Centre and has (and still does) served on numerous national and international research panels, scientific societies and granting agencies. He also serves as a reviewer for leading journals and granting agencies in Israel, USA, Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan.
Prof. Kaplan is recognized globally for his work and findings on the mechanisms that drive ecological processes, such as the response of photosynthetic microorganisms to changing environmental conditions and those which determine the dynamics and composition of phytoplankton assemblages.
Prof. Kaplan has published more than 140 research papers, many of them in leading scientific journals, wrote several scientific reviews and chapters in books and obtained two patents.
Mr. Gad Appelbaum
Mr. Appelbaum is the owner of an Israeli investment company operating in the fields of trade and manufacturing and serves as executive chairman or director on the board of multiple private and public companies. Among others, Mr. Appelbaum has served as the Chairman of the Board of the Board of Discount Underwriting and is currently serving as a Director in Discount Capital Markets, both subsidiaries of Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT) (the 3rd largest bank in Israel).
Previously, Mr. Appelbaum has held senior executive positions in the public Israel Corporation (TASE: ILCO), HP Israel (NYSE: HPQ) and with the Accountant General of the Israeli Finance Ministry.
Mr. Appelbaum holds a Masters degree in Public Administration and a B.A. in Economics, both from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
A passionate global PR & marketing strategist and the owner of Now-You Global Communications – an award winning global PR firm. Mr. Nave was named in 2017 “Best Global Communications Strategist” by the British CV Magazine, after spearheading SodaStream (now owned by Pepsico) global PR and communications strategy in 45 markets.
Mr. Nave has vast experience in global marketing strategy, crisis management, business & corporate communications, integrated digital marketing, corporate social responsibility, International public affairs and media relations.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and is a member of the Israeli bar association.
Dr. Waleed Nasser
Dr. Nasser is a cross-disciplinary scientist with more than 20 years’ experience in end-to-end solutions in biochemistry, microbiology, infectious diseases, genome sequencing, and bioinformatics.
Dr. Nasser holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemical/Biophysical sciences from the University of Houston, and a Ph.D. degree from Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), where he studied the complex interspecies interactions among soil microorganisms. He completed a 3-year postdoctoral training in the Center for Molecular and Translational Human Infectious Diseases Research at the Houston Methodist Research Institute.
Dr. Nasser served as the Director of Research for a startup company, BrainCheck. Then joined the Human Genome Sequencing Center at BCM, where he led multiple human genomics projects. Before joining BlueGreen, Dr. Nasser served as Associate Director for a microbiome company, Diversigen, where he provided full package analytics and led R&D in bioinformatics and computational tools.
Dr. Nasser consulted for BlueGreen Water Technologies since May of 2014, and joined the global company as its U.S. Director of Operations in February of 2019.
Ms. Wang Pu
Ms. Wang has more than twenty-five years of hands-on experience in the life science industry in China. She joined BlueGreen in 2018 as the country manager and is in charge of launching its products in China. Prior to joining BlueGreen, Ms. Wang was Co-CEO and one of the founders of XinTech (Bio Science) group of companies, a boutique investment bank facilitating licensing, co-development and M&A transactions between Chinese and Western Biomed companies.
Career highlights include executive positions with Syngenta China, the world’s largest agrochemical company; Burrill & Company, a San Francisco based life-science oriented venture capital and merchant banking firm; Bayer China and the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture.
Ms. Wang holds an MBA from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, a Masters of Economics from China Agricultural University and a B.Sc. in chemistry from Jilin Agricultural University.
Mr. Zohar Houri
Senior Financial Management Executive, with over 25 years of significant management experience in Financial & Operational areas in various roles in Food & AgTech, Industrial companies and Telecommunications. The combined experience in export driven business and fast-growing companies, within a dynamic and global environment, enables Zohar to bring to his role in BlueGreen Water Technologies strong leadership and broad skills in Accounting, Finance, Legal, Taxation, Risk Management, M&A transactions and IPO’s.
Zohar holds a BA in Accounting, MBA with honors, and a LLM (Master in law), and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA Isr.).
Dr. Oori Weisshaus
Dr. Weisshaus has over 12 years of leading and performing research in academia and industry. Oori has led projects for the development and commercialization of several products employing computational platforms for applying genomic data for crop enhancement and breeding at NRGene and Evogene (leading Genomics / Bioinformatics companies in Israel).
Since 2014, CTO of BlueGreen Water Technologies, leads the development process of a novel line of products for tackling harmful algal blooms in freshwater systems. Conducted several field trials in multiple world sites and managed regulatory and IP affairs leading to the current commercial products.
